Founded 27 years ago, the CIMAT is one of Mexico’s most important research centers. The constant search to achieve a balance between basic and applied mathematics, combined with the work of liaison and technological transfer with the productive and social sectors, accord a very special nature to the CIMAT.
CIMAT possesses high-level academic personnel (over 80% of CIMAT researchers belong to the National Investigators System and more than 93% hold a doctorate), engaged in frontier research activities, the formation of human resources at degree and post-degree level, and liaison with the social and productive areas. Academically speaking, the Center is organized into three areas: Basic Mathematics, Probability and Statistics and the Computer Sciences.
